He has earned awards such as ACSMA and Coaches All-ACC third-team honors as a quarterback. In school history, he ranks ninth in all-time touchdown passes (42) and fifth in all-time passing yards with 6,436 yards.
The expectations are high for Brad Kaaya as he enters his Junior Year in the 2016 season.
"One thing is I've done it before. This is my third season. I consider myself a veteran. I know my teammates do, as well. Just my preparation, how I approach the game, practice, workouts. Like I said, I'm just more mature is the biggest thing." Says Kaaya of his confidence heading into his Junior year.
Right now Kaaya has eleven 400 yard passing games, a feat that hasn’t been accomplished that many times by a UM quarterback since 1980.
He set his career marks for himself on October 10th when he played against the Seminoles where he threw for 405 passing yards it was the most yards thrown by a UM quarterback vs. FSU since 1980.
Focusing on stats is not what Kaaya seeks though; “One thing for me is just to be as consistent as possible. A lot of people just get caught in the stats, how many touchdowns you throw, stuff like that. On my side of things, if I'm consistent, my preparation is consistent, then our team play will be consistent as well."
His previous accomplishments have carried over to the 2016 season as he has been named to numerous preseason watch lists, including the Heisman and Manning Award.
This season he has a chance to take his team to their first ever ACC Championship game. Brad has talked about what his team needs to do to win the ACC Championship, and the ACC Coastal here is what he had to say.
"That's the plan as of right now it's a coastal and ACC championship. You can say all the things you want about Miami and all the championships we've won getting back to years past. One thing we've never done is won an ACC championship and a coastal championship. That's our goal for the season, yes."
As we wait for the 2016 College Football season to start only time will tell to see if UM have what it takes to win the ACC Championship as well as the ACC Coastal. As for Brad Kaaya, we will see what he can do to take that Heisman Trophy home.
