Tampa Bay acquires two-time Arena Bowl Champion Richard Clebert
TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Storm acquired two-time ArenaBowl Champion Richard Clebert, announced vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch. The team has also been assigned defensive lineman Uriah Grant and kicker Jose "Carlos" Lopez
“As we continue through free agency it is our goal to create competition at every position to put the best team on the field,” said Gooch. “We believe these gentlemen have the skills necessary to help us succeed in the 2014 season.”
Clebert (6-foot, 300 lbs., South Florida) enters his fourth season in the Arena Football League, and his second stint with the Storm. The four year veteran brings with him two ArenaBowl Championships having won with the Spokane Shock in 2010 and the Jacksonville Sharks in 2011. Clebert spent part of 2013 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League
Grant (6-foot-1, 295 lbs., Mississippi) enters his first season with the Tampa Bay Storm. He started in 11-of-22 games for Ole Miss. In two seasons Grant tallied 51 total tackles, and nine tackles for a loss including six sacks. In 2012, he started on a defensive line that was ranked fourth in the nation in tackles for a loss and eleventh in sacks. Grant spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars (NFL).
Lopez (5-foot-10, 200 lbs., Middle Tennessee State) joins the Tampa Bay Storm for his first season in the Arena Football League. Lopez played in 12 games for the Blue Raiders and converted 17-of-22 field goals and was a perfect 36-of-36 on extra point attempts. He began his collegiate career at Carson-Newman University where he played in 34 games and converted 15-of-21 field goals and 124-of-130 extra points.
